OH WOW OKAY I WAS NOT READY FOR THAT SHIT AT ALL HOLY CRAP OHHHHHHHHHH MY GODDDD OKAY WOW YES GREAT WONDERFUL THAT IS SOME VERY VERY GOOD WRITING RIGHT THERE IT’S VERY DELICIOUS AND VERY GODDAMN EMOTIONALLLLLLLLL
I THOUGHT I WAS GONNA START CRYING BRO THAT’S HOW GOOD THIS IS
A little drabble I did after that one CAS update but forgot to post:
CW for Death mention, sibling death, sickness mention. Lemme know if it needs any others.
Leo stared at the pictures, glancing between the two of them. Comparing them.
Future Donnie was big. He was huge, actually. Just like all the future turtles.
So why…why did he look so small in these pictures? He just looked so…so frail. A sick feeling settled in his stomach, Leo somewhat putting the pieces together. But he just had to be sure.
Casey said something next to him, but Leo wasn't paying attention. He didn't even look away from the photos, eyes boring into the one of Donnie looking particularly small.
" what happened to Donnie?" He murmured, voice almost a whisper in the echoing, desolate base.
Casey didn't answer for a moment, Leo's lip quivering a little.
" You- you said that they all died- that everyone died and I thought- I thought maybe it was the kraang or fighting or  something, but- "
Leo let out a shaking breath, accumulated dust moving with his breath, " How did Donnie die?"
Casey moved to stand next to him, staring up at the pictures. He shifted uncomfortably, likely remembering it firsthand.
" never mind, I shouldn't have asked-"
" He was sick " Cj interrupted him, frowning, " he was..sick with some sort of krang infection. It…it took everything out of him…. he just sorta…. faded away"
Leo had put that together on his own, but…hearing it aloud made him feel nauseous all over again. He hated being right sometimes.
" how did he get sick?" He murmured, fiddling anxiously with his belt, " I-I mean did he…did he have contact with the krang or..?"
His thoughts were racing. Because if it could happen to a future Donnie, and he had asked his Donnie to pilot the technodrome…..could that mean- Could he get sick too?
The thought had him squeezing his belt, hands trembling. A cold dread settled its way Intl his chest, the feeling like he had been dunked in ice cold water filling his very being.
Had he sentenced his twin to the same fate as Future Donnie?
[END]
Anyway this is all I was thinking when Leo asked what happened to F!Donnie ;-;
This is based on @somerandomdudelmao 's CAS comic!!!! Just a reminder for anyone who is confused

so apparently there are some rumers, that joe is dating a girl called kate and that they revealed their realiationship at bfi. I mean I dont care who he is dating, as long he is happy, so am I. But where do those rumers come from?? There is literly no information, just those people saying that they are dating and sending hate mails to kate…
okay, FINE, im going to get into this, tell you all i know, and then that can be it for the questions i keep getting about this, because it really is neverending (and insanely annoying to me) so, lets go
kate is a writer/director who works with/for 'film hub north/bfi network/rianne pictures' as stated in her instagram bio, lives up north near newcastle and is gorgeous
at the london film festival this year she has gone to see hoard
she posted a pic to her insta stories of the Q&A after hoard from her seat in the cinema (like so many other fans did too) and said some nice words about luna and she tagged some people
one of the producers reposted the story into their stories which i think is how people "found" her
kate had a pic taken on one of the bfi red carpets (by herself) AND had a pic taken in a large group, one of who was lorn (lauren quinn - no relation - this is not about her, but people draw conclusions about this too)
NOW
just a couple weeks before, joe made a playlist on his spotify account called "Kate's" with two songs in
so, some girls went 1 + 1 = this is a relationship
kate has red hair and is literally stunning, so they're saying "she's his type, must be true"
kate got messages/insta comments asking about it, she posted a story to her insta that said something along the lines of "this is silly please stop this is my professional account i should be able to post what i want without being harassed i have body dysmorphia pls leave me alone"
went private and then public again shortly after
when i say that there's been 0 actual proof that these two people even know each other, i truly mean that there's 0 proof that these two people know each other at all
if we're just looking at the facts: she's a fan
the end
every time people have been trying to link them up, joe's been pictured/filmed to be by himself
couple weeks ago, kate posted stories to her instagram of her being in malta and, presumably, people started asking questions, because she very quickly went private and deleted the insta stories
she went public again shortly after, and the day that joe was pictured doing a lil food shop in his local tesco's, kate posted a mirror selfie in a lift and behind her, there's an arm in the frame - now, imo, not even close enough to touch her bum, but people went BLACK COAT, THAT'S JOE AND HE'S TOUCHING HER ASS
big sigh
so
what kate is NOT doing is coming out and denying anything, which is a choice
she doesnt have to do shit, she doesnt owe anyone anything, but to hit the snooze button and ignore everything is definitely a choice
in turn, some girls are taking the no-denying as proof of it being real and have made twitter and tiktok accounts and KEEP FUCKING SENDING ME QUESTIONS THAT KEEP PUSHING THIS TO BE THE TRUTH (they are not nice about it either)
i have yet to see any truth to any of these rumours - to me it feels like a lot of stories being pulled from thin air that some girls find extremely entertaining
i do not
i have no interest in this
don't get me wrong - joe'd be lucky to date someone as pretty as kate, she seems lovely, but i am going to need some actual proof before i just go with whatever some people are trying to sell to me as the truth
please do not reach out to me on anon about this
if you have anything you want to discuss with me, please find me in the tumblr chat messages
thanks <3

Alright, since my previous post about Vulpes was so positively perceived, heres a long post going more into detail about how I genuinely believe all members of Caesar’s Legion to be representative of real life romans.
I mean obviously a lot of named legionaries dont have a backstory in-game or are even mentioned outside of you interacting with them, but some of them, like Lucius, Aurelius, Vulpes, Lanius and (obviously) Caesar himself, are very similar to some actual real life people.
Like for example I’m gonna start with Aurelius. Yes there was in fact a roman leader called Aurelius, but Marcus Aurelius has not that many similarities with our in game character. Sure in a way he is helping Caesar rule, but as we can all tell and see Edward doesnt have a triumvirate. However, Aurelius is in a way similar to Octavian Augustus, the way he is put to sort of mirror how Caesar(Edward Sallow) rules, but on a smaller scale. (also, he looks very very similar to Octavian Augustus)
(I will take a moment to apologise because I am very barely educated on Sulla so, if anyone was hoping for an in depth analysis of Lucius, im sorry. However their identical names and even their facial features are similar too)
Lanius too has similarities to roman leaders like Nero and war tactician Hannibal, with his brutal and extremist approach of handling things. He also is similar to Nero since even if he didnt get chosen at random, people still regretted their decision to have him as a leader in one way or another.
And of course, Vulpes. He too was raised and praised by a man named Caesar. Told he was part of his family he doesn’t have, grew up around him and learned everything he knows from him. But the stoicism and sort of indifference he shows after Caesar dies(if you botch the surgery) has lead me to believe that he never fully cared. Yes sure I’m not here to only defend Vulpes’ actions and say he did no wrong. But it is very obvious that Caesar never treated him well, never showed him what he expected out of him. Vulpes has only been given orders to kill and to pillage since he was a child. And hate this man all you would like, people are still people.
In more ways than the way he was brought up is he similar to Brutus, he obviously cannot kill Caesar because killing him would have him exiled, and clearly he cares about the Legion so that would be a bad idea. So he waits and when you finally kill him, you can even see a tonal shift in his speech, the words he uses, he is obviously relieved to some extent. I dont think I’m just stating the obvious right now, so if you didn’t understand what I was getting at, thats fine. But I really do see Brutus in Vulpes, always have, even the way their names sound, even the way they both look, and I’m talking about the Vulpes depiction with white hair, he has a haircut similar to how the romans would wear it.
In conclusion, why do I think Brutus and Vulpes are so very similar? Because they both want to get rid of a man named Caesar and they both don’t want to do it to become leader instead.

I have to say that your post on Deku peddling a lot of casual homophobia and toxic masculinity across the manga, was really interesting and eye-opening. I mostly agree with you, except the part about bkdk supposedly being the endgame for this particular arc. I've had similar thoughts about how gender and sexuality is portrayed in MHA, for quite a while, but the conclusion I always came to, was more along the lines of "Reject Masculinity; Embrace Lesbianism". As I've just stumbled upon this blog, I must therefore ask: how do you feel about transbian Deku hcs?
Oh it’s so fun! Trans lesbian deku is awesome, I love all trans hc’s so much.
Unfortunately though, I am also a bkdk shipper and my opinions in that post are about my genuine thoughts that, yes, deku is a cisgender gay man, and there’s no real problem with that. Welcome to my blog though!
A lot of my posts do focus on bkdk and togachako (while mainly togachako for the past couple of months), so that’s just your fair warning! If you aren’t into that it’s like… kind of impossible to avoid that shipping on my blog. I often post fanart and metas/shitposts that focus on those two ships solely.
And I will say, I feel like the notion of “rejecting masculinity”, especially as a trans masculine person myself, does often fall down anti trans rhetoric and spaces, as lesbianism and masculinity aren’t even necessarily contrasting things to be. NB is an identity that can be stretched so far into so many spaces that it’s kind of hard to reject masculinity OR femininity without well… falling into exclusion.
I’m not sure if that’s what you mean though, however I do enjoy most if not all trans hc’s because they are amazing and so interesting when people really dive into a characters internalized issues having to do with that identity. Transgenderism is so maleable and can easily apply to so many different types of characters, even giving them a deeper sense of depth.
Canonically though, I think I like Izuku how he is. Because everyone has issues, and while cis men have obviously had a lot of stories where they are the center of attention, told from their perspective, Izuku is unique in his own right; because how often do we really see a short, androgynous, emotionally expressive, cis male character deal with things like the insecurity of crying, the unknown of if your identity (if it really is your identity) will be accepted in spaces where you have been pushed to be with, from your perspective, a platonic female friend? Because yes, izuku WAS bullied—rather indirectly with Katsuki sure—but the little comments made about being a crybaby, being creepy, being weak, they all build up. They build and build until, hey, the bully isn’t there anymore. In fact, the bully is you.
And really, I see why people don’t necessarily pick up on Izuku of all people having masculinity issues. When the viewer sees a momma’s boy who’s relatively soft and empathetic, they register someone who vaguely understands themself. They see him be self sacrificial and think, “that’s a man who goes against masculine stereotypes, so obviously he doesn’t struggle with fitting into the stereotype himself!” Because it’s not what we’re usually shown in our every day media.
A man with masculinity issues is someone who is SUPER masculine—he’s super buff, he screams a lot, he has anger issues, he—oh wait I’m describing Katsuki.
Yet, in reality, Katsuki actually DOESNT! Not as much as Izuku does anyway. In middle school? Sure, most definitely. He registered weakness and refused to accept himself, therefore his masculinity. The anger issues build and build on each other… except for the fact that we’re forgetting the key here.
Katsuki grew up.
Katsuki HAD to grow up because the way he expressed these anger issues (that I will say, izuku also shares, the crying is literally a symptom of that in a lot of cases) was much more prevalent. It stopped him from truly growing, and when he was humbled he was able to see all the mistakes he was making. And slowly but surely, he apologized. He sacrificed. He started to really, truly, care.
He always cared of course, seeing as he cared enough to try to stop deku from getting into UA, because he thought he was a threat. Hell, after the entrance exam at their first day of UA, he genuinely thought Izuku had enough heroics in him to make it past the entrance exam! He didn’t think Izuku even NEEDED a quirk to get in. He’s always believed in him.
Was that expressed through his insecurities? Yes, because he was a dumb 15 year old.
But now that he knows he cares, that’s allowed him to reflect on himself, and on Izuku.
Izuku ofc will change, he will grow up, he will get that character development, but he has to have that realization that, oh, Katsuki really won’t hate him for anything. Ever.
Whether Izuku has internalized homophobia simply because Katsuki isn’t a girl, or because he’s afraid of Katsuki’s rejection at Izuku’s weirdness, well, I guess that’s up to your interpretation.
Mine is personally on the second side though.

Ch 109: Random thoughts (part 2)
Part 1 ...
Continuing with the court, the last case is...
Yugi Tsukasa.
Tumblr media
The amount of cuteness! What a harmless kitty! Does he look like a criminal to you? He is so innocent! He is no criminal! Such innocent face hadn't and won't ever comment one single wrong thing in his life! ♪
Tumblr media
...........
Look at him. Little mew mew. That's what I call the guy who is really truthful and says whatever he has in mind. A guy with no secrets as he puts it. ☆ you're keeping some huge facts to yourself still, am I wrong? Should we 'question' them to get an answer?
The 2's reaction though... it's so funny.
Tumblr media
Wow. So now it's not only Tsukasa who made some kind of Akane expression but Hanako too.
Tsukasa's words about his assistant...
I wonder if Nene caught any meaning behind it? Her wish stands in sharp contrast with sakura's wish? For sakura's wish to come true, her own wish of living is no more? For her wish of staying alive, sakura's wish is no more?
Would she recall a thing of this sort?
Tumblr media
And question her fast made 'wrong' conclusion of their 'talk'.
Tumblr media
I will have hope she would. She won't forget it like she forgot Tsukasa is a yorishiro and didn't recall it or thought of the fact one day it will be his turn when he took her to destroy No.1's OR that moment Tsukasa said he needs the yorishiro destroyed for sakura's wish to come true. at least think of your own life span 'wish' Nene.
It feels kind of funny when I see something like 'Tsukasa goes all the way when he works on granting a wish'. That's true but... it's not like what he is doing there is only for her sake. He said a part of the truth but didn't voice it all. That's the catch. He has his 'own' motive out of doing what he has been doing so far.
Speaking a bit further into it, neither Hanako (now or ch 96) nor the keepers (Teru being a Minamoto for that matter, who knows lots of secrets behind the school) paid real attention to sakura being mentioned, unlike No. 6. I wonder if that means she is directly involved with appointing 'him' as a mystery only? Or if she has some kind of past interaction with him or him case in a way since she is aware of his story with Sumire and was the one in charge from behind the scenes of the No.6 yorishiro situation.
It feels the other mysteries don't hold any ties with her ruling over them or whatever or even know her? And having Tsukasa mentioning her, he must have known better than to do that if it will attract unnecessary attention for a one in her 'position'. Hmm....
Tumblr media
This thing... uhhh... this boy... this boy... this boy... he gives me lots of work. ♡ 3-2-1... let's go...
Tumblr media
Lovely
Tumblr media
curious
Tumblr media
little
Tumblr media
kitty. ♡
Is he sitting on books btw? That's funny.
Have to say... Tsukasa's deal with the clock had me laughing a lot... it feels like he hates it... or even... it feels more like despise really. He wants the clock to be blown to smithereens. Wooh! Maybe since it gave both him and especially Amane a hard time.
Come to think of it, we can make the picture a bit wider...
We can start with a yorishiro destruction, leading to a brilliant boundary 'falling apart' wonder if he is curious to see what will happen once he is destroyed with Hanako's boundary
Moving to a destruction of a clock...
Tumblr media
So while Amane was trying to fix the clock he was thinking: how would it look when it's destroyed into tiny pieces? Showing that almighty face? ♡ ........
-
Now I have to say some nice writing decision it was to have Tsu going to see the ruins of the clock. ♪
Tumblr media
Look who's pleased with the outcome. Happy for you my dear. You got to see a thing you've been waiting to see for so long. And, got rid of a thing you despise. ~ Enjoy your victory. ☆ Hmm, is it safe to assume he went for kaku first to git rid of his ability of turning back time? He doesnt want things to be undone. Meaning, he wants things just the way they are now with the clock (or kaku's power of turning back time is annoying in general). I wonder what would come of the students and the people around the school then
Following that line of thought, I can understand Tsukasa in this issue but...
The thing I wonder about now with Tsu-clock relationship, is apparently his want to have Nene using it to time travel. Why did he tell her about the usage of the clock when he wanted it destoryed even since back then? What did he want to accomplish in there? Nothing was shown to be done on that regard. And... I think he really might not actually care much to use the clock to have Nene time travel, he has the nowhere space under his command and already used it to make Nene do so. So... the clock is not really needed! Expanding the image a little bit... the 'clock' keepers...
Perhaps he has a thing against them themselves. I wonder what they may have done to get him to feel that way...
Tumblr media
???????
Seriously, Amane's whole deal with the clock (and maybe 'deal' with the keepers themselves?) is ....... I still can't get rid of what Tsu said to Nene about the future and past blending together in that festival. So... what if Amane got to actually 'do' something, resulting in what Tsukasa talked about, yet the keepers 'kaku' turned back time anyway and made whatever he did go to waste? Or maybe something across these lines... something serious happened back in time, right?
Hmm......
-
Then a school...
Tumblr media
And,
Tumblr media
The world itself.
What a force he is. ♡
It makes sense. He despises this unfair word and sees it not needed, so whatever factor to keep it up and support it is equally unworthy, unneeded.
A world that holds people back from doing what they want and to be who they are with its unfair rules is better off broken. Especially, when it's a matter of a person who means the world itself to him.
"It's said the annihilation of a civilization is as brilliant as fireworks"
In this case a world let's say. Hmm, who loves fireworks? I hope he'll be getting the fireworks he must be waiting to see. ~ if we were to assume the world will get 'destroyed' in the literal meaning creating such a 'view'.
Speaking of Tsukasa's wants to do/see things... this arc has some nice stuff included...
He fantasized about creating an artificial human ever since he was a child and got to see it as 12 y.o Tsu even before creating it, and granted created him in the future as yorishiro Tsukasa. Same goes for the clock, 12 y.o was interested to see it destroyed and granted got that as yorishiro Tsu. I wonder if back in the time he was still 12 y.o Tsukasa he also got to see/know the clock will be broken in the future some way or another like he came to see Mit 2.0 (let's take the glimpses of the future he told Nene about as a possibility). Maybe it was yorishiro Tsukasa instead who knew the clock will be destroyed in the near future...? This boy has some further knowledge into things so I like to keep that in mind. ☆
I do wonder if he has any other things he looks forward to in mind. Amaze me, Tsu. ~
Ahem, back to the 'court'...
So, the keepers made the judgment of having Tsukasa to be 'guilty'. For real? Only Tsukasa is guilty? What a funny court, what an idiotic court. Why aren't they so smart? Seriously, I was hoping to see the keepers much smarter than this! Like, just simply, the 4 guys in there, NONE of them actually made the action of breaking the clock, yet... the guy who did it is... apparently not guilty, nor the one who led Tsukasa and the guy to do it in the first place. What a joke of a court. So, the table turning on them at the end is a well-deserved result. Kinda funny, it felt as if the whole 'order in court' and the court itself... was never 'ruled' by them at all but actually 'him'. He left things go by assumingly as they want but he was just waiting for the moment to turn the table upside down. How sly of him. He is truly something, huh? No wonder he was having fun at the start of the chapter. What a force he is.~
Their suggestions feel to represent some stuff, actually... Akane.. 'feeding'. Just imagining how powerful these owls would get out of it. XD
Kaku... well...
Tumblr media
WOW, Tsukasa! Do you plan to put Kaku to use somehow? lol wonder if kaku regretted his last words like no. 3
Tumblr media
Cool to see this thing referenced once more in a way. I'm so weak to this sly smirk Tsuuu!!! The confident gaze!!! Uhh!!!
Wonder how was Amane feeling in there. I mean, sheesh. I wonder if he himself wanted to go wild on the keepers. Seriously? You don't know who you're saying you want to feed to the owls or turn into a gear or turn to dust. That's his moon and yorishiro mind you. How dare you say such things and intend to harm his precious prize possession.
My, cool Tsu is something to get me... she came to him by herself. Now, I think that's what I call one great mastermind, 'ruler' and the master of his 'games'. He played with them all and made them his puppets, that's so funny. He targeted their clock, yorishiro, then them from the start. ♪ He already had things figured out, everything was held in the balm of his hand. ☆
I mean, I have to say I've been wondering how will he take things after ch 108, but here we are.
Depending on Tsukasa's words after taking Kaku down, I have to say he proved his nimbleness, and being one intelligent strategist. ☆
It sees he had 'targeting the keepers' in mind for some time, and was waiting to take action, and little Mirai gave him the opening he needed. ☆
I wonder when that came to his mind, after singing with Nene, he wanted to go back to searching and was annoyed with Mirai's tickings. He got captured, then assumingly had to get 'free' with Nene's help and later Hanako's. Here I will stop, was he acting all along to be 'weak' by any chance?
Let's see... Mirai's 'seal' doesn't hold anything on him, it's either it doesn't affect him at all or it did, yet he can break free whenever he wants but 'decided' to look weak. So, he was acting or pretending to be vulnerable. Was he testing if Amane would come to save him by any chance? Was he going to actually save himself and Nene if that didn't happen? He let Hanako get captured just like that so his plan will succeed wizard Tsu vibes I'm telling you, what a mischievous lil bro. hehe oh... if he let Hanako get captured too so it would look like a small game of you didn't free me so I didn't help you. we're alike in the situation! pffft. what a fun soul
He can use Kokujoudai, and can master his OP strength. What a lie you told Nene Tsu. It can still be the truth, at that moment he was under the effect of the seal for real, but in the court he simply broke free. Anyway, some slyness lies in there. Even Nene is not supposed to know he is not actually 'weak'. How careful. He doesn't show anything to you, unpredictable. Always this way with his plans. The inside of his head. ~~~~ So Tsukasa, huh? ♡ ~
Tumblr media
Now I know why. You amazing boy, you only give up limited access into what's inside of your head. No one gets you better than yourself. Me and myself.~~~

Try harder to understand him and how his mind works you self-proclaimed I read minds girl. ~ I will have to give him an extra point if what she said has a sense of truth and even with such powers, she can't read into him. In the meanwhile, I'm siding with this guy! ♪
Tumblr media
Let's keep working hard into getting to know him better! ☆
Going back to the chapter... I'm laughing Hanako really didn't need to set Tsukasa free. He can take care of it himself. Even without his sly move of making little Mirai move the time of his handcuffs forward. He will get what he wants, whenever he wants, however he wants. ♪
Hmm, he is admirable. Fascinating. Who doesn't love a mind like his, or a smile like his? Or even some strong gaze like his? We have a guy so capable and full of himself right there. Love his fast way of acting and dazzling confidence! Easy on me, Tsu! ♡ ♡ ♡ speaking of his physical speed again, I will have to remind myself he still had that thing around his ankle. and that by itself is...
Tumblr media
Uhh, fangs... his sweet sweet fangs... sly smirk... boy!!! ♡ goodness, past + present Tsu will seriously have me spinning around myself. Hey! Don't look like you're working together to me! I can't survive one, how about 2?!
Thinking that Yako is a foxie... between her and Tsu... who is the real fox? ♪ it's funny thinking the fox took her down first, now.
Please… mercy on me… Tsukasa's sly laid back, carefree and relaxed capable confident persona!! Yes, we have such a calm and relaxed guy yet he is a force! ♡ ♡ ♡
Tumblr media
The king on his throne! Carefully putting his masterplan puzzle pieces in place. Glorious. ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡
Tumblr media
Tap. Tap. Play with my heart. ♡
Tumblr media
Straight forward, right to the goal at full force. ~
Where is my heart? I don't feel it anymore? It's in your hand you captivating enchanting guy? Okay! ♡ listening to Cascade's song dangerous while writing this. it randomly played and wow, have to say some parts of it are fitting for such glory. Give me a break, Tsu-force! Or don't! Uh, I can't decide because of you! ♡ ♡ ♡
Funny, Tsu showed me all the animals I associate him with in one chapter. first a cat, then a fox and later a powerful unmerciful tiger never to be underestimated or messed with. Wow. ☆
Hmm, he still kept his words of 'gentle with girls' huh? Even though she wasn't 'gentle' with him now or even back then, he didn't harm her really. Just had koku hold her. Wonder if that will keep up once he turns his focus to look for the yorishiro in her.
As for Kako, I dooo wonder if he previously intended to start with him, moving time back will be annoying. And, just maybe... a payment for embarrassing and making jokes of big bro earlier? Or again... is there a chance Tsukasa despised not only the clock but the keepers on a personal level in the past (and now)? Hmm...
Hanako's shout to Tsu to stop, I wonder if it was out of his fear for Tsu's well-being and safety or actually the other way around, he somehow saw what happened with No.3 coming and shouted at him to stop. He knows how powerful Tsu is, right? Looking at it either way is cool, one he sees Tsu powerful, the other he is concerned about the safety of his precious Tsu. ♪
Tsu being 'impossible to control'... I find that chaaaarming about him! He is free-willed! A force moving his own way, thinks his own way, sees things his own way, follows his own beliefs and works things out his way. Truely Fascinating. ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡
However, I will have to say I used to believe if there is a person Tsukasa will listen to, it will be Amane. that's how the story made me think, chapter 108 too, and the magic AU kinda. 'wonder what's the inside of a ghost is like/wizard' Tsu -I saw him a lot in Tsu this chapter!- was a force no one stood a chance against until Amane called him and he acted like a good little boy I had it in me Amane can tame him… but… it seems it's to a certain degree, too. When Tsukasa wants a thing for real, he won't back down even if Amane told him to stop? Hmm… I find that charming, too. And it's still cute when he listens to Amane… uh… both ways are nice! ♡ ♡ ♡
Tumblr media
You're WOW! ♡ What a lovely curious mind you have. ~
So, was the ticking Tsu heard coming out of little Mirai's clock only or also her 'inside' as well? Kako seems to have these 'tick tock', and back in their first arc, wherever Mirai goes there is also ticking. Do they also 'tick tock' with their clocks? Never expected the keepers to be this kind of creatures. Hmm... wonder if they work like robots and can get fixed? I see Tsu might have interest in there? Some experiments? They feel similar to artificial humans in a way? But maybe he won't be too interested?
Tumblr media
The ending!
I wonder if Tsukasa is referring here to Akane or little Mirai? Akane was naturally standing near Tsu and it seems he is looking at Tsu but Tsu is looking ahead of him (not at Akane who is beside him), perhaps at captured Mirai? Hmm...
It's worth mentioning it looks like he went for the first clock keeper in charge aka kaku, then following this pattern, he'll go for the second keeper aka: Mirai. Then the third aka Akane.
Tumblr media
I see she has a potential of having the yorishiro within her.
So, I wonder together with Tsu what's the inside of Mirai is like!
As for Akane... will he try stopping time? Instead of holding his clock he is holding the little hammer? Won't work on him, Akane. You saw that. Unless little hammer has other uses beside that seal or attacking? Does he intend to free Teru? He is the one who sealed him. I wonder if he can free Hanako too, since he wasn't the one to seal him, but rather Mirai.
Teru... to think a meeting between him and Tsukasa was so waited by the fandom... what was his reaction to seeing Tsukasa just going that way before his eyes? His definition of 'Evil spirit' shins in there. Mr. Teru??? How are things going by you? I think he may seem far more dangerous to you than Hanako you're chasing? Now, if Teru knew Tsu is Hanako's yorishrio... I assume that won't be good news for hanako, for many reasons...
I wonder if AidaIro intend to have something go on between the 2? Now or on later stages. They never paid much attention to each other this chapter, beside the time Tsukasa commented on Teru.
I do wonder how the next chapter will 'play' out, will they have a some kind of fight with Tsu? Hmm... maybe things will take a whole different turn for Akane and the rest, maybe Tsukasa as well. Anything can happen. ..........
Just having the possibility of 'the yorishiro might also not be within any of the 3' is funny. You might need to come up with a second back up plan Tsu. Will that be the case?
If things came to an end with the past and future keepers gone... and the yorishiro got destroyed... I wonder what would come of Akane's 'contract' with them. Will he be free? Return to be a normal human with no supernatural abilities? Will he feel happy to finally be free? I mean he showed he was tricked into working for No.1 and was furious about the fact. I wonder how he'll react, especially when things might come to his promise of healing Aoi's hand, as a normal person he really can do nothing I think? Hmm... his feelings might be contradictory somehow... ..........
My mind even decided to have the thought of 'what if we can repair the keepers'. Thinking about Mit 2.0, he can regenerate by eating weak supernatural representing the way he is made. The keepers seem to be like 'robots'? If their pieces were to be replaced or put back efficiently together somehow, would that bring them back in shape? or even, what if kaku was smart and careful enough to previously put a replacement in his place? I need to see the keepers being a threat. I want to see how much of a force they are. While I do want to see Tsukasa having his victory, it will be fun to see him overcomig a few hurdles.
Hmm... anyway! The conclusion we got out of the chapter simply is...!
At the end, the court was his to rule and master. ~~~
Hmm, well... after all he is the guy named...
Tsukasa.
What a lovely name fitting for him. A perfect match for a perfect guy. He makes me so proud of him. ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡
I think we've reached the end of our talk about the chapaer on this note. Tsukasa, please! ♡
Tumblr media
Thank you my dear! ♡ ♡ ♡
******
Adding this fun continuation as part 3 real quick!
Tumblr media
Shhh, let's leave him to his card house building process! Think your plans calmly, Tsu! Good luck! See you later. ♡
.
.
.
Ok, here we officially reach the end of the messy chapter review. Too many thoughts to list...
Thanks for reading! Until next chapter!

sighsss see like......... idk. i hink its more of a moral thing than like, having actual evidence for it. and also i think its people also giving William a lot of the benefit of the doubt, considering we dont actually see what evens death does to william thru his eyes, personally. hut still smth abt this conclusion just doesnt !!!! sit right with me !!
first even if we dont see it from williams eyes i do still think his actions can be very telling as well..? and i just cant recall any precedent being set about..... williams remorse....or guilt orrr grief or whatever? like i just don't think thats a part of him we see in the games. so when people put that onto him it just feels like.... like WHERE did this come from 🤨 ?
whereas we HAVE seen. williams egotism..... and even disregarding the stuff we get that more evidently reflects this even just looking at his actions earlier in the series yknow???? yknow????? and i think its just, more likely of a thing to...... put in that. like slot ig if that makes sense . like it makes marginally more sense to attribute his child resurrections to the ego r whatever of it than anything else.
but also its just likeeee !!! like we'll probably never really get a clear cut THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT WILLIAM AFTON THOUGHT AND FELT ABOUT THIS EVENT: (and this is excluding the books since i havent read the big novels so i cant say anything particular about his characterization there) yknow what i kean though???? well jever REALLY KNOW the kind of impact evans death had on william to the T. i can just say for certain its just really off to me......
AND. NOT TO MAKE THIS ABOUT MOVIE AFTON but i think this also proves my thoughts abt him???? like literally all of them?????? wr never ONCE see him like wracked by guilt and while we dont get an EXACT motivation for killing ppl i like .
like people r so obsessed with figuring out EXACTLY whats wrong with him and EXACTLY this and that that i think people miss the point. Severely. much like in real life its not as simple as, 'well this thing happened to them so this is why their evil!' people are EXTREMELY. EXTREMELY NUANCED AND COMPLICATED. and again WELL MIST LIKELY NEVER GET AN EXACT REASON WHY HES LIKE THIS. AND I DONT THINK WE NEED TO AND tbh i think itd probably make him less realistic and compelling.
William Afton is a serial killer, hes a serial killer who murders children. he does not need a deep psychoanalysis n whatever shit, again like REAL LIFE SERIAL KILLERS theres no looking at everything and pining smth down for sure you cant. you cant truly comprehend someone like that, theres a million possible reasons why william could be like this, and while no. i dont think he was just capital e Evil brok the day he was born the fact of the matter is we dont have enough info about him BEFORE all of this to be sure.
i think the most likely scenario is that it was a slow incline, its possible he killed small animals before this perhaps in his youth, maybe he accidentally killed someone and it pushed him even further down this path. obviously he didnt just Become this one day, it was most likely a long time coming. again: Normal Well Adjusted Individuals Dont Just Start Serial Murdering Children <3333
and like....... yea...... just. yea....... i dont think its a totally unreasonable conclusion to make. i just dont think its really correct or the Most reasonable all considering.
i just think like, obv we didnt get a true backstory for william afton, there are bits of him we just will not understand and arent relevant to the story at hand, there IS a reason why we dont see further back for him. and ik this might be hard to grasp in a fandom where 95% of everyone tries to piece everything together PERFECTLY to find the FULL TRUE 100% SOLVED answer. but thats just? not the point of fnaf, like in general? i mean if it was we would have a more conclusive timeline wouldnt we? and i just think this is also encapsulated in william afton himself.

this is so long please read if it interests you and skip if it doesnt i genuinely just couldnt stop thinking of things to add.
i used to wonder why antisemites would constantly make up criticisms about zionism that are either blatantly false or a misunderstanding of facts. especially when jewish antizionists have consistently been able to find real criticisms of zionism and analyze them based on jewish history and personal experience (tbh i dont consider any goyim to be antizionist or zionist but that's not the point). it's definitely not a problem of "valid criticisms of zionism dont exist". even when i dont agree with jewish antizionists i usually understand how they got to their conclusion and i find it fully respectable. also when i say factual/valid criticisms i dont just mean shit i personally agree with. im a zionist with plenty of criticisms about the movement (yeah I know it's ironic). all i mean by that is a criticism of zionism that is backed up by facts.
imo antisemites either explicitly or implicitly know that if they look up factual criticisms of zionism they'll also have to learn about the positive stuff. it's all intertwined. to a lot of jewish people this isnt that big of a deal. we're raised to ask questions and we're taught how to formulate a good argument from a young age. its pretty normal for us to critique things that we generally support or find postives in things we generally critique. however, goyim are much less likely to be raised this way. obviously some are but the dichotomy of good and bad is much more prevalent in goyische culture than jewish. of course we know some shit is good and other shit is bad, we're not fuckin idiots, but nuance is integral to us.
i dont know what it feels like to be raised in a culture with a strong difference between good and bad. it doesnt make sense to me at all. however id assume that that upbringing combined with social media, which favors quick, shocking information, would result in something like goyim constantly glazing over factual critcisms of zionism and just making shit up. the made up shit is simultaneously more gut-wrenching and easier to digest due to its simplicity. it's really fucking hard to accept that zionism is so complex if youve been taught that things are always just good or bad. and even harder if your activism began and ended with social media instead of a medium that favors long-form content.
you cannot research zionism without being whacked in the face with nuance. its the reason i research zionist history more than zionist theory because that shit is so confusing sometimes (said with love). learning about zionism isn't an easy task at all. ive been doing it seriously for around 5 years and casually since i was a small child and i still learn shit every day. if i studied zionism for hours every day id probably still have something to learn when i die.
antisemites do not like being called antisemites, so they try to learn things about jewish history and then fail. they dont actually care about the information they just want to seem like they know something. they are not doing this for the benefit of jewish people. they wont actually spread true jewish history or recommend jewish creators that could share correct information. they'll instead say bare minimum shit that makes themselves feel proud for saying the word "jewish" and their followers are making death threats towards zionists.
ive seen some goyim say some factual things about zionism and stay in their lane while doing so, both things i rlly appreciate. and time and time again they're met with antisemitic conspiracies, death threats, doxxing, etc. not as much as jewish people are but still a lot. most people are not ready and may never be ready to support jews through the good and the bad.
this ties into the idea of the "innocent" victim. the one who is pure and kind, who never said a bad word about anyone and saved baby mice from fires. this idea of the innocent victim exists in war, abuse, crime, literally anywhere where someone's human rights are violated. however even if someone is innocent in a particular situation most people are not 100% good and innocent all the time. there's a few exceptions like babies (although i do know some babies that are fucking assholes) but in general people are a mix of good and bad.
jewish people do not shy away from being both good and bad. we embrace it with open arms and even though we try to improve our bad traits we dont fear them. "the only good jew is a dead jew" is fitting because when someone is dead you can make so much up. you can pretend they were incapable of every doing anything even remotely bad. you can say the poor jew who died was your biggest inspiration even though you scoffed at them every time they opened their mouth.
and this is why antisemites hate zionism so much and love making up false critcisms. because it throws concepts like black and white morality, the desire to consume information quickly, and the innocent victim into the fucking mud. then it punches it and steps on it and kicks it. anything and anyone that favors simple information over complicated information, not matter how incorrect, is going to have a hard time discussing zionism. people want to know things, yet sometimes they dont wanna actually put in the work to learn the correct information from good sources because that's hard work and antisemites do not want to put in hard work regarding jewish history.
if you believe im gonna solve antisemitism singlehandedly then who the fuck do you think i am. this isnt going away anytime soon. however you can do shit to help. study zionism on your own time and develop your own opinions on it. i highly recommend focusing on 1-3 specific topics trust me it's really confusing otherwise. teach others about it when you feel safe to do so. share resources with them and encourage them to do their own research. maybe point them to a specific aspect that relates to an interest they already have, and if you're mentally able to handle it call out antisemitic misinformation. a lot of people will not listen but there will always be at least one person who just needs a little bit of help starting.
anyway i may do actual research on this in the future because observations and i might turn it into a proper essay. I'll write one version where i say fuck and another where I don't.

i had ur post about twt stuff reccomended 2 me and ough. ive never been on twitter and i love aira sm what the hell are they saying about him over there.
sorry if this gets long this topic bothers me so much dghfk the first part actually answers your question anon the rest is just me ranting
amen to you for never looking at twitter but basically theres a lot of people on enstars twitter who HATE aira. it depends on the person but its usually some variation of "he's racist." ive seen several people on twitter get harrassed and have to go private over making tweets that boiled down to "aira is fine actually." there are people who like him on there but i get the consensus that hating him is a very normal and accepted opinion to have
there is one interaction of aira's that i think is bad and choose to ignore like most enstars fans do with at least one of their favorite characters because sometimes the writing sucks lol. like most people choose to ignore all of the weird transphobic comments towards naru that their favs have made but apparently aira isnt allowed that same treatment? lol
but in general the way he's treated over there bothers me for a couple of reasons
1) stop drawing conclusions about characters when you havent fucking read their stories!!!! i know for a fact that most people who hate aira haven't even read most of the main story or feather touch or any story that talks about his character and just take what other people say about him at face value and its annoying. also they just disregard his growth as a character entirely 2) most people take a very western centric view when looking at him so they disregard his struggle with being mixed race because they dont think hes like. oppressed enough? when most people dont understand how different the culture in japan is and how it might actually affect him (again. read his stories please) 3) aira is like. 15. and yes, he is mean sometimes. he is a child. the way he acts is pretty normal teenager behavior, especially for someone who is written as being really insecure 4) he is not real!!!! you cannot ask a fictional character to take accountability for their actions because he is not going to make an apology video about it
this goes back to the thing i was saying in my other post about twitter's weird obsession with having the moral highground when it doesnt matter at all. liking an anime character is like the least harmful thing ever and trying to police what characters are ok to like isnt social justice grahfghdj
TLDR twitter loves calling aira racist and i think its really annoying, reductive of his character, and kind of just plain wrong, but its a really good example of twitter users feeling the need to try and be morally superior to other people for no reason over stupid things

rant post about the online queer community
hey after going outside and talking to real life people for a while Ive come to the conclusion that most of the online queer community is just horrible for queer people. hi reddit today Im going to ramble on about how the queer space on the internet has somehow regressed back into separation under a more progressive and performative light. so after being on tumblr for like, fucking 7-8 years or some shit as well as experiencing other queer spaces on other social media platforms (twitter and reddit, mostly twitter) for only a couple years, Ive come to the conclusion that people are so caught up in their own asses that theyve completely misunderstood and forgot why the queer community exists. side note: I dont care how messy this post is or if the points made are all over the place, this is tumblr.com who gives a shit.
as far as Im concerned, a lot of non-queer and especially religious people really dont like us queers. unfortunately we were all born in a world where we suffer as a minority under laws and power that would really rather have us killed than working together. as such a collective of queer people started banding together under a community where we were finally allowed a space to be ourselves and live as people. the community consists of fags, dykes, transsexuals and whoever was in-between or outside of those terms. our relation comes from how we are rejected from living normal lives for simply trying to express romance or identity in a way that would finally make us feel alive. so it would only make sense to band together and make sure each of us finally have a home and a life we always wanted to live, surrounded by people who would finally accept us for who we are, right?
ya!!!11!!11one thats the whole point of the queer community, to band together and finally be treated as people. but the one problem that I see nowadays is that the current queer community just doesnt fucking do that. Im bad at formulating problems in an essay-like way so Im just gonna make a list of things and explanations underneath ok? :) :) :) 1. the queer community unfairly fetishes women: now theres nothing wrong with liking women sexually or romantically or whatever, in fact it doesnt correlate with the above sentence at all. Ive noticed in my time on using the internet, that queer people tend to hate or forget people who arent women. whether they are men, or nonbinary, or both, or none at all. women have a much larger audience than other queer people and its stupid. its gotten to the point where I forgot that the trans flag included women, men, and those who dont identify with either. I just got used to seeing them depicted with women or feminine figures that arent cis. I literally didnt make the connection until a few days ago that people other than women completely belong under that community as well, yet Ive seen so much trans discussion that only involve women and no one else. lets change that please, people who dont identify as women belong with the rest of the trans community. I feel ridiculous saying that because I shouldnt feel like I have to even formulate that sentence at all.
2. the majority of the queer community doesnt care about brown people: now there are a lot of online queer people who arent actively or intentionally trying to be racist but I cant help but notice that they tend to forget about brown people a lot, specifically black people now that I think about it a bit more. you guys remember when a new version of the pride flag came out and it looked the exact same but they added brown and black colors onto the flag? strange that at the same time the blm protests were also really popular and part of current events at the time as well, its almost as if it was simply a performative gesture to signify what should have already been obvious. even after those colors were added, black people were just forgotten again. Im not even going to sugarcoat it I dont think the majority of the online queer community would even care if black people just died, because they already dont. but this isnt just about black people either, anyone with darker skin tones, no matter the ethnic group, are either used for diversity gestures or completely forgotten about overall. it has been pointed out multiple times that tumblr staff has actively silenced or banned accounts belonging to brown people. actually the only time I saw tumblr even care about shadow banning was when they started doing it to trans women, what a fucking shit show. its so easy to care about people no matter their skin color its literally so fucking easy, why is it impossible for the majority of this community to do that.
3. why are we fucking separating ourselves from each other: hi Im sure youve noticed that Ive been saying the word "queer" over and over again. first of all, if it bothers you, grow up. the queer community have fought for decades to reclaim phrases used against us dont give it power again. second of all, I prefer saying queer over lgbtqia+ because it unites us all under one word rather than an acronym pointing out each little category of queer people. theres nothing wrong with trying to create an identity for yourself that means a lot to you and makes you feel more comfortable for yourself, but I have to argue and say that certain labels just seem pointless and belong under ones that have already existed before their creation. yet I dont blame people for using different ones than the labels that have already existed because I think we collectively failed to inform people that those labels can have multiple meanings. bisexual doesnt just mean you like cis men and cis women, it means you like anyone you want to. transgender doesnt mean you are now the opposite of your assigned gender, it just means that you arent cis. it also doesnt mean that you need to have surgery done on you or that you wear different clothes than the norm either. although I see the point of creating extra labels, I ultimately think they do more harm than good. we have to stick together to survive, any more individual groups then we are as good as gone.
those are the general points that Ive wanted to make anyway. I would love to type more but I have a feeling that the reading comprehension on this site wouldnt survive the first two paragraphs.
the last thing I want to say is that you should find more ways to be together than try and exclude each other, because while youre calling yourself a "foxgirl bi lesbian enby demiboy" there are queer people in real life being kidnapped and mutilated for simply trying to exist.
please for the love of everything that keeps us alive and safe, find ways to stick together.

recent discussions of zionism have been making me think a lot about the way your worldview is influenced by the information youre given. like, obvious. but i think it would be fair to say that most people who hold heinous views do because they think it's a moral necessity. like, the average white racist is participating in a hundreds-of-years self-sustaining dialogue of heavily doctored or completely falsified knowledge out of which beliefs about a lack of humanity or a fundamental danger of other races is a rational and morally important belief. the average sexual conservative does believe gender deviancy and sexual freedom pose a danger to their children. theyre told this and given believable examples. i think the majority genuinely do believe this and aren't just using it as an excuse when challenged. likewise the average liberal zionist isn't just mindlessly bloodthirsty, there's a narrative of both facts and doctored information that informs their understanding of events, and within that narrative they're behaving completely rationally. the problem with trying to bridge the gap between less-true narratives and more-true narratives is that a major challenge to a person's fundamental worldview is invariably going to be rejected especially concerning one's own safety or the safety of the vulnerable. if you were trying to argue with someone and said, like, "joe biden literally was never president of the united states." "the sky was red last week." it would be completely reasonable for them to be like, wow you're a nut who is so divorced from reality theres no point in ever talking to you. or i guess a more equivalent statement would be, like, "actually people love to be raped." like, that's the exact same level of real & rational.
& as far as i can see the cure to this is materialism, right? for anyone whose beliefs are based in any kind of internal logic the bridge is naturally to prove the value of whether things have been proven to be true, by who, how reliably. i think most people have an approximate instinct to this effect, tempered by an understanding of systemic bias, and thats why people will categorically believe something said on fox news but not by a dancing young adult on tiktok, or vice versa. people need to understand the relationship between provable facts and things that happen, and how to keep confidence scores on different narratives and what biases might inform different narratives. all of those were things i "was taught" in school, but being told to trust the facts from conservative or liberal authorities who are evidently also selective in their narratives comes across more as gaslighting than the natural pursuit of truth; i feel confident saying this is probably true for anyone with any kind of view whatsoever,0 which is the main reason i don't feel at all confident in the idea of like "reeducation camp" type politic. i think in terms of highly selective narratives trying to split the difference between trusted authorities (trusted to fundamentally understand the same truths as you) and someone who is able & interested in introducing a radically new narrative would be really fucking difficult and necessarily really individualized, so barring that i don't really think it's a possible pursuit using institutional power. i think organic & large scale interest in a nuanced & true narrative, an interest in & education on how to convince other people to come to nuanced conclusions, and a system in which the rational thing is to be kind, is the only realistic way to make people in aggregate want to stop holding shitty views. like, you can make it more costly to be shitty, and that way it doesnt matter what they actually want, and historically that has worked. but also like, past a pretty modest threshold, just makes people even more resistant to changing their minds.
anyway i feel like any discussion about, like, "what to do with all the racists and misogynists and rapists after the revolution" or "whether someone being racist is bad or fine if its only when theyre in psychosis" or whatever that comes to any conclusion other than this either just sucks or is kicking the can down the road

The thing with Izuku is that the initial motiviation could work if it really got challenged and shown as childish and flawed. The whole story is about the society being comodified into literal hero warship, so Izukus development could be realising how his dream of saving people to feel like a hero is kinda selfish in the way that it doesnt ask why there must exist a class that can save and a class of victims, especially when everybody has powers they could develope, even the quirkless
I’m going to respond to all of the My Hero Academia asks in this one post.
So let’s respond to the first one above.
It is challenged, but yeah, not really.
It is shown to be flawed, but solutions are slow to appear.
We’re waiting for the manga’s conclusion to address those solutions (or, read Vigilantes, it kind of responds to some of these problems).
It isn’t quite childish to me, even if I get that merchandising these real-life Pro Heroes is eccentric.
In fact, something about this just came up in Reddit recently. (Too bad I misplaced the link to that post. =_=; )
Just because it’s selfish for Izuku to want to be a hero doesn’t mean that such selfishness is a bad thing. The story does a good job of mostly avoiding this black and white thinking. Yes, Ochaco, Mount Lady, and Uwabami want money--but all of them were still doing heroics, Ochaco is not greedy, Mount Lady does change, and nothing showed Uwabami was bad at her hero work. Yes, there are hero dynasties, including the Iida and Todoroki families, but that doesn’t take away from good work Tenya, Tensei, and Shoto have done. I thought the story did well enough acknowledging that even the most heroic person can have selfish reasons behind their good deeds. Unfortunately, that also means acknowledging that even some real scumbags like Endeavor may have done some good or had some good intentions--because the wife beating, the child torturing, the eugenics, the wife buying, and all of that undermines any good he has done.
Maybe there is justified frustration that the one who really opposes this selfishness is Stain, so it becomes easy to discount any of this criticism by saying, “You sound like Stain”--except even Iida admits Stain was correct on some points, but wrong on a lot of other points, especially the solutions he had (maiming and murdering).
This hasn’t felt like a series that wants to interrogate the problems of commodifying these heroes. I don’t know whether I can find a real world analogue to the merchandising of these heroes within their own story, as we don’t quite have the same thing in our world right now. But this is a franchise that wants to sell merchandise, so that’s why we don’t see serious interrogation into Izuku’s All Might merchandise collection, that Endeavor has dolls and masks, that Uwabami is in it for the ad campaigns. The closest we get to criticizing merchandising is how Hawks gets the Endeavor doll because it’s cheaper, how that shows Endeavor’s worth is not tied into his good deeds but his appeal to get an audience to cheer for him.
But this is still a franchise where someone like me buys the video games and plays at these characters: how do I separate knowing how shitty Endeavor, All For One, and others are, then using them when playing online?
I do push back a bit against the idea that Izuku doesn’t realize some of these problems. I just don’t think the answers he comes to are as good as they could be.
Bakugo’s abusive behavior is an indictment against Quirk society that is obvious to Izuku. All Might’s absence and the gap it leaves is an indictment against Pro Hero society that is obvious to Izuku. Aizawa’s sink-or-swim approach is an indictment against both Quirk society and Pro Hero society that is obvious to Izuku. Endeavor’s abuse of his children including Shoto and Dabi is an indictment against Quirk society and Pro Hero society that is obvious to Izuku. Kota losing his parents, and facing relatives and family friends and aspiring Pro Heroes saying he should be happy his parents were willing to die to protect others, is an indictment against a society that keeps privileging big acts of heroism over the responsibilities of individual people and an acknowledgment that Kota is living after trauma. Gentle becomes a harmless “villain” because Pro Hero society didn’t see a reason to direct his skills for good, and no teacher, not without some fault applied to Gentle, was able to make him understand that theatrics and fame should not be his goals for heroism, another indictment against Pro Hero society that is obvious to Izuku. Hawks’s and Nagant’s actions are indictments against the lie of Pro Hero society that should be obvious to Izuku.
And it’s not that any of this is not obvious to Izuku. He speaks up about most of it, or hears people speak up against it or interrogate it. He narrates to us that Bakugo’s abuse shows that people are not created equal. He sees that without All Might he and other Pro Heroes have to rise to the occasion to make up for his absence. He works harder and smarter to meet Aizawa’s expectations. He tries to teach Shoto that he can use his fire Quirk without becoming Endeavor. He makes himself an example to Kota that the point of heroism isn’t to be so powerful, it’s to take action whenever you can to help others. He sees that, without the experiences he had before, he would have become Gentle, and still could become like him, so he better not forget this lesson. He…says some stuff at Nagant? I don’t know, that story fell apart on me.
I think you’re saying that Izuku doesn’t ask why there are classes of people, some who can be saved and some who are stuck as victims. I disagree. The very beginning of this manga was Izuku insisting he can save everyone--even if he fails right now. I think the story shows Izuku wanting to create a world where there don’t have to be victims--however naive that may be. He wants to save even Shigaraki. That’s noble, but as it is an ideal, which means it’s not realistic. Having that work in fiction should be enough: it doesn’t have to be realistic. But within the rules of this series, it’s not believable. I think the problem is a lack of more awareness on Izuku’s part that he can’t save everyone. Ochaco seems to carry more of this weight, as she is the one who has to speak to the audience that Nighteye could not be saved, she’s the one who sees the victims from the first war and how many are injured or possibly dead, and she may end this series realizing that Toga can’t be saved, either.
Now, onto the second question:
Like the problem with Deku is that even when it seems his ideology gets challanged, he never "loses", never really gets proven wrong - there were many opportunies - like the fact that he really only wanted to be a hero in the way society showed him and got depressed at the mere suggestion that he could be a fire fighter or something (also funny firefighter getting dismissed in the context of FF), more examples but charachter limit
Nighteye dying should have challenged him, should have been a loss. But instead it was presented that, if Eri wasn’t saved, then Izuku lost. Even Mirio losing his Quirk was not treated as that loss. Izuku expresses that regret that his actions led to Nighteye’s death and Mirio’s lost Quirk, and he tries to make amends by offering to give up One For All to Mirio--but Mirio refuses. I don’t get a sense that Izuku carries this weight, of Nighteye’s death and Mirio’s lost Quirk, as loses; he rebounds, he rationalizes that Eri may restore Mirio’s Quirk, Nighteye died as peacefully as possible and died having saved someone. I think if you had a revision to this story to show Nighteye’s death was still bothering Izuku, then something could feel like a loss. Honestly, it should be empowering to see Izuku persists despite everything he goes through, but it also feels like the story doesn’t allow Izuku to define these events as traumas that he will live with.
I do think Izuku, by this point at the end of the manga, is trying to be a hero that is not like what society imagined. There are details that potentially contradict this: if he had been Quirkless this entire time, that really would have been a hero unlike how Quirk society imagined. But All Might has been the example no one can reach; Izuku wants to do so, that strikes me as trying to defy how society shows what a hero should be. All Might tried to talk him out of being a hero, telling him to be a police officer or a firefighter; Izuku still refused. Izuku should have powered through the Sports Festival, even if he would still end up losing to Shoto; he didn’t, he let Shoto take it out on him to take ownership of his fire Quirk. But these are just Izuku acting against “common sense,” not exactly modeling a different kind of hero that this Quirk society is used to.
Now, onto the third question:
The flaws in MHA's society get compartamalised, like oh actually basically all heros are good, there is just some small shady part that does assassinations but that gets delt with offscreen. Oh merchandise is kinda tacky but not a big deal - like it could have shown how beauty standards forced by the ads could drive mutants into villany or make people use their quirks as heros ineficently just to keep the best image etc
Right, the people who actually show Quirk society and Pro Hero society are wrong tend to be the Villains, the antagonists.
There are ideas friends have said to me, or written in their own stories, where you have people trying to reform the system from the inside.
Give us characters studying in the public relations and marketing degree programs at UA who want to point out the hypocrisies of Pro Hero society.
Have Shoji, Tokoyami, Ojiro, Mina, Koda, and others far earlier pointing out appearance-based discrimination and discrimination against mutation Quirks.
Show us that there are characters we are to cheer on because they are right.
That being said, there are also readers who would probably say I’m not practicing critical thinking well enough or media literacy well enough. Once the manga does an entire arc that treats the League of Villains as the protagonists against the Meta Liberation Army, that is the invitation to realize that not all Pro Heroes are good, that the Villains make good points.
And while I appreciate where Horikoshi went with Spinner, Shoji, and Koda, I kind of hate that arc. I had such a bad taste in my mouth when Jiro in the English dub called Tokoyami “bird brain” when up to now the series had shown people were accepting just about every different look people came in.
I kind of wish the series had avoided Spinner suffering discrimination due to his appearance, when something like Vigilantes showed discrimination in terms of body shape and size compromising access to public services, something that seemed easier to portray. Not unrealistic, given how in our real world people will take any physical marker of difference to represent their utter hatred for entire groups of people out of their bigotry.
I say this, because I can’t imagine little kids looking at Gang Orca and saying he looked like a villain--whereas I can imagine little kids being excited seeing Tokoyami, Spinner, Gang Orca, and so on, because they look cool.
(And, not to be horny on main, but we’re really going to act like people, respectfully and not objectifying, aren’t turned on by seeing a Spinner or a Gang Orca? That is not believable.)
Now, onto the fourth question:
Or even the question of anti-status quo groups - the only vigilainte in the main series,  Stain, even if sympathetic in a few ways, is basically shown as a deranged killer, the quirk-liberation movement is a shadowy cabal, the yakuza is the yakuza, there are basically no people against the system or outside of it that are basically good, even Gentle needed rehabilitation. Why no comune of quirk users living in the woods, without needing concepts like "hero"?
I agree on just about all of these points.
Gentle at least for me feels somewhat believable, even realistic. There are “law and order” characters within the series who ignore that Gentle, after that one injury in his failed rescue, was drawing attention to bigger crimes, was more so screwing over bigger criminals, that even coming onto UA property in itself is not terrible except that it exposes UA is not perfect and opens the location up to worse attacks.
Like I said above, we already have “good” characters who can speak to these problems in Quirk and Pro Hero societies without being bad guys or getting dismissed as “Villain sympathizers.”
Or, maybe you want to have the story go in that direction, show someone like Tokoyami defending those with Quirk mutations, or even Denki with his “Stain was cool” rhetoric, and have that butt heads with a classmate.
What if close friends like Momo and Jiro were on different sides of an issue, one sympathizing with “lawbreakers” who are reforming Quirk society, the other wanting “law and order”?
It’d be similar to Ochaco and Tsuyu refusing to join the Bakugo rescue--it creates believable character conflicts that can drive future plots, character progression, differentiate Class A so that they have more distinct personalities and are not just, well, extras until they get their big moments in the manga’s final arc.
Now, onto the last question:
Anyway, sorry for the MHA spam, but just think it has a lot of lost potential because of it conformism to the society, that makes all it criticisms of it shallow, as if they were better not included and it all was just a fun school comedy if thats how the questions raised get delt with.
The archetypal superhero story, for a long time, has been a struggle about whether you want your heroes to uphold the status quo or oppose it. The moment you have them oppose that status quo, are they still heroes? The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a cliche example to turn to, but it’s the best I have right now: you have the Avengers, at least in the first film, propping up a status quo; by the time of Civil War, you have Captain America still getting to be the hero even as he’s opposing the government.
For a series such as My Hero Academia that comments on just about everything in the archetypal superhero story, it feels lacking in responding to the status quo question.
I wouldn’t say all the criticisms are shallow, but I think there is more that could be done but isn’t. This can be the problem of just wanting to get to the next chapter, wrap up the next arc, or finish the manga already.
I brought up Reddit earlier, and that was one of the remark made recently: that the series would be better if it slowed down, took breaks between arcs to do more of the school comedy stuff. And it’s not as if a school comedy lacks potential to address big earth-shattering questions.

okay listen. i love the pevensies. they have some really accurate sibling conflicts, like none of them taking lucy seriously because shes the youngest, edmund being easily turned against the others because of his unaddressed resentment, and peter being responsible to the point of overbearing. theyre solid fictional siblings! but NO ONE is doing it like the elrics
and the key difference is that the pevensies dont really like each other?? they love and care for each other, certainly, but they dont get along most of the time and theyre constantly at odds. theres a major power dynamic, and all of them hold some level of resentment toward each other because of that power dynamic. this is certainly realistic, and they do work through some of it, but you kind of get the sense that they love each other out of obligation/proximity, which creates some emotional distance between them. they take care of each other but they dont SUPPORT each other. and it leads to things like edmund getting taken advantage of by the witch or lucy running off by herself all the time.
the elrics, on the other hand, are best friends. theres no significant power dynamic- theyre both equally protective of each other and treat each other with great respect. they go everywhere together, tell each other everything, and each of their motives is to get the OTHER their body back. ed lays down his life for al VERY early on in the show, and toward the end al deliberately puts his life in eds hands (haha get it? cause its...... eds hand....... ANYWAY-) the biggest conflict between them is when al gets manipulated by barry the chopper, which was also partially triggered by ed choosing not to tell al something out of fear of what he would think. that whole conflict is about what happens when the 2 of them keep things bottled up in order to avoid hurting each other. meanwhile lucy is out here running away in the middle of the night because she knows her siblings either wont believe her, or wont let her go because its too dangerous. the pevensies WANT what the elrics have.
and if youre thinking "well thats great but no siblings are like that in real life, its unrealistic" i regret to inform you that i am in fact that close with my siblings. we used to be much more like the pevensies- we spent a lot of time together and cared about each other, but there was a major power dynamic and we didnt get along. then in middle school we realized we were all on the same team and got over our bullshit. and now we're best friends.
now, age does also play a factor- the age gap between me and my siblings is closer to the elrics than the pevensies, so its easy for me to say "the power dynamic is bullshit, lets just be friends!" when its a bit more complicated than that. so, given the age gap, it is understandable that peter would take a more parental role. but you can still have a parent/older sibling who takes charge without talking down to the other person?? especially because, and i just learned this recently, apparently younger siblings genuinely look up to their older siblings??? like its not unreasonable for peter to take charge, but it IS unreasonable for him to dismiss lucy just because shes the youngest. a power dynamic doesnt always have to create resentment, even among teenagers. and yes peters treatment of lucy is addressed, but its in a very christian "children are valued by god" way instead of a "shes a person with valid thoughts and opinions too, you know" way- and im not here to critique the validity of that, im just saying it doesnt really strengthen their sibling dynamic. this is ESPECIALLY clear with the edmund situation- he gets all the blame for that as if his siblings did nothing to drive him away??? maybe if you made him feel loved he wouldnt even be tempted to sell you out!
anyway, in conclusion theyre both very realistic, however the elrics like each other more and thats rarer to see and also way more fun in my opinion. thank you for coming to my ted talk

The first island
Can I just say- this is some frontiers spoilers my dudes
the entire interaction between Sonic and Amy on the first island is really cute and solemn. They really do feel like long time friends with light jabs and soft comforts sprinkled throughout their dialogue. I did switch the voice-over to Japanese so it might be influencing my perception of their interactions, but it was great to see Sonic and Amy interact in a way that felt more three-dimensional than the usual one-sided crush annoyance thing. They illustrated Amy as someone who believes in the power of love but not exclusively her own, as a power that can tie fates together even beyond apparent demise. We got to see Sonic trust in her strength and intuition and act as a support for Amy’s convictions- even when it felt like, to him, it was getting in the way of his real goal - saving his friends. And after voicing his annoyance we got to see Amy challenge him and a compromise was reached. They really did seem like a pair of individuals, like Amy wasn’t just there as a goal for Sonic to progress. The only downside is her run cycle at the end of the first island- hate it-never want to see it again lol More characterization stuff under the cut:
This was a bit of an idea the games like to dance around and lightly touch on in terms of Sonic’s characterization, but he’s really thoughtful and cares about his friends... almost to the detriment of others he doesnt particular know or care about. He’s a quick thinker and boasts quips and jabs, having retorts fired up and ready to go with very little delay between others’ sentences. But yet, he does slow down and ask if his friends are all right, how they’re feeling, and if they are still thinking about that terrible thing that happened. It is very cool to see him take the time to help Amy and just talk to her and see how everything’s going. Interactions between Sage and Sonic are very interesting because we have a dead wall, a closed book, unwilling to give any extra information to the “enemy combatant” and a poking and prodding hero trying to get them to talk. Sage delivers information very matter-of-factually and is met with joking responses and boasts that they find foolish. Sonic will then ask a question and Sage will deny any help, leaving Sonic with a bit of a “fine whatever” response. It isnt until one of the last Sage interactions on Kronos where Sonic switches tactics and asks them quite politely (or as politely as sarcasm can go) what their name is. He doesnt get a good answer and grumbles in annoyance (in the Japanese dub) but quietly says to himself that he doesnt get a negative feeling from them. When faced with another titan and effectively proving Sage wrong in the coolest most over the top way possible, he still retorts to her threats with jokey sarcasm- in line with his usual display and not gaining any animosity in his voice. It seems Sonic is more interested in getting answers to the mystery than beating Sage, he even seems to be contemplating whether or not Sage is the “bad guy”. He isn’t jumping to conclusions and it’s a nice break from the act first ask questions later attitude we saw in Lost World. Sorry to mention Adventure like everyone else, but it’s nice to have another example of Sonic trying to understand his opponents’ purpose and reasons more than them just being another thing in his way. Perhaps even the fact that you can just find Sage on the map standing there and Sonic chooses to talk to them first says a lot as well. I’ve only just made it to the second island, Ares, and Sonic’s interaction with Knuckles is top notch.

Overlords (all + Stolas and Stella) with an S/o who is an extremely powerful and well-known demon, but who likes to disguise himself as an imp (or any low class demon) with their reaction upon discovering it. :)
All of them? Alright!!
Alastor:
*Honestly thought something was up when you didn't flinch at the carnage he caused on one of your dates
*Like normal people would be horrified, in fact he was kinda disappointed when you didn't have more of a reaction
*He quickly got over it though because he was now even MORE curious about you intrigue him to no end
*When he does find out, its when he did a surprise visit to your place
*You were just about to disguise yourself when he popped up into existance
*At first he thought you were there to cause trouble to his darling little imp but quickly came to the conclusion that his s/o and this powerful being are one and the same
*Intrigue through the roof and not to mention how more enamoured he was with you
*Would ask tons of questions, why would you hide yourself? What else can you do? Does anyone else know?
*If he's the only one who knows, he'd be honored but would want to tell everyone about you
*He'd keep it a secret if you wanted to tho
*Loves when you're in your imp form because you're so tiny but also loves the dangerous aura you have in your true form
Rosie:
*Probably wouldn't read into why you would have to leave whenever there was a news report about your territory being attacked
*She just figured you lived there, which isn't wrong
*The only way she'll ever find out is if you tell/show her
*She respects privacy and secrets
*When you eventually show her she just smiles says you look lovely and asks if you want tea
*Thinks it's no big deal and will keep your secret
*She loves you in any form you take, no preference on that
*She is relieved that she doesn't have to worry about you when you're out and about
*Loves that you can take care of yourself and how you both have one more thing in common
Stella:
*She was PISSED when she first realized her feelings were for an imp the same way she was pissed with her husband for sleeping with one
*She got over it and decided that it's basically just karma (she totally gets Stolas now)
*Doesn't notice anything strange because she's not used to prolonged contacts with imps
*Would walk into the guest bedroom you've been using and just see you transform
*Is extremely pleased because now she knows she's not dating an imp and her impecible taste isn't flawed
*Not that she didn't love you before, it's just now, she can hold the imp thing over Stolas's head again.
*What? You want to keep it a secret?? Why???
*Will keep the secret begrudgingly because she loves you and would do anything for you, even throw away her pride
*Loves your true form more but that's only because she thinks you look sexy and secretly likes being the only one to see it
Stolas:
*Honestly doesn't give a single fuck what you are as long as he gets to hold you and give you kisses
*Lowkey kinda oblivious but he makes up for it with sweet words
*It happened when you two were out in the shopping district
*Someone grabbed you and pulled you into the alley as you passed and just as Stolas goes into the alley to fuck shit up, he sees you transform
*LOTS of questions after that but also he's kinda horny now :/
*Would totally want to be dominated by your true form but doesn't mind your imp form either
*Is kind of torn because the imp version of you is who he fell in love with and he's still reeling from you actually looking another way
*Still loves you tho, no matter what, he loves your personality more than your body so he'll get over it pretty quick
Valentino:
*Listen, he teased you to no end about how small you were
*He'd pick you up and carry you everywhere and you were sick of it
*So when he was in the middle of teasing you, you transformed to show him who you really were
*It took some convincing for him to actually believe you, thinking this was a prank or some sort of kidnapping thing
*You'd have to try again later, bringing in the big guns, an inside joke you two have with each other
*Once he was sure it was really you, he'd be like "why an imp??" and you'd say your reason but he still wouldn't get it
*Doesn't change that he still makes fun of your height and isn't even slightly intimidated by your power
*He's still gonna pick you up and carry you everywhere
*Understands wanting to disguise yourself, publicity's a bitch
*Won't tell anyone, your secret's safe with him
*Doesnt really care which form you take because he finds you hot as fuck either way
Velvet:
*You two were out on the town for date night when suddenly someone comes up to threaten you
*Yeah you transformed real quick and put the fucker in his place
*Velvet would take care of the witnesses if you were really bothered
*She's bouncing in place and looking at you with excitement, she wants to know EVERYTHING
*Will ask why, what made you pick an imp, how did you find out about these disguising powers, it's like an interrogation
*Will soak up anything you say
*Is excited because now she can buy you twice as many outfits in both your sizes, you'll look great in any form!
*Likes your imp form so she can easily pick you up but that doesn't stop her from picking up your other form though!
*Calls your imp form your travel size
*Is literally the BIGGEST blabber mouth in all of Hell but will keep your secret even though it'd be tough for her
Vox:
*He was ranting about your powerful form, saying how he's trying to figure out the weakness of this big baddie
*You casually, while on your phone, tell him that your biggest weakness is him
*Doesn't catch it at first, replying back with a "that's cute, hun" before looking over at you, flabbergasted
*You'd smile and transform infront of him and hes awestruck
*Would whine about how you didn't tell him sooner and how he could have been fucking your true form all this time
*Slightly pouty for the rest of the evening, until you give him a kiss
*Prefers your true form because he really likes that you wanted to show him and only him, it boosts his ego
*Likes that it's a secret between you two and you make inside jokes about it
*Thinks you look hot as fuck when you use your powers
Alright! I hope you enjoy these!! I had a lot of fun writing these actually!!

For real though watching yhs has lead me to the conclusion that despite Grian seemingly has such an active fight instinct....most of the time he actually doesnt respond to situations with half the fight attributed to him.
When faced with a traumatic situation Grian will absolutely bare his teeth at the nearest threat. He's absolutely vitriolic towards Sam at all times without fail and has even initiated physical violence in their confrontations once or twice. He's often on edge, often quick to angry outbursts, just overall rather hostile when faced with a dangerous/frightening/harmful situation. Which definitely indicates his main response to these scenarios is to fight. Hard.
However the more I engaged with fanon the more I faltered. A lot of fanon does portray him as very hostile in the face of trouble. Which should make sense. Canonically Grian knows when to say no, when to argue, and even sometimes when to physically fight back. Any episode with Grian present will likely have examples of him pushing back against harmful situations. And yet something always feels very Off about that being the start and end of it in a lot of fanon. Which led me down an interesting line of thinking.
I honestly suspect that Grian's volatility and will to fight back isn't nearly as strong as one would believe from observing him on surface level. In fact, his on the surface hostility feels like it's borderline a facade altogether to be honest.
I mean look at examples throughout canon of Grian in distressing situations.
Yhs halloween episode. The one where Taurtis got stabbed. And the following situation where Grian is famously forced to dress up like Taurtis. Grian would later be very upset about Sam stabbing Taurtis, however his initial response was to nervously laugh and even give Sam appeasing praise. I mean, Grian says "you weren't supposed to stab him" pretty clearly, but he anxiously laughs before and afterwards and even tells Sam he's proud of him when prompted. Obviously Grian was very upset about the whole thing later on after taking Taurtis to the hospital however in the moment he's mostly silent and when he's not he's just nervously laughing throughout, even agreeing with whatever *Sam* says when he's outright prompted by name for an opinion, then when everyone else tries to play it off casually Grian actually goes along with it almost entirely, even agreeing to let Taurtis drive him home for some reason. Then, according to his own story, he had an opportunity to talk to police at the hospital and he didn't incriminate Sam. He knew they were supicious of *him* but he still didn't incriminate the actual killer. "I told them I found him like that" Grian alleged. Honestly it sounds like he didn't tell them much of *anything* before being released and making the walk back to meet Sam. The next morning Grian was significantly more vocally upset about Taurtis being stabbed and expressed being upset with Sam however he seemed significantly more anxious than he was angry throughout the interaction. Then Grian immediately pretty readily agreed to go with Sam and Yuki to school and willingly put on the Taurtis outfit before the other's even started with the threats in the name of making things 'less awkward'. He certainly objected, however he was once again a lot more anxious than angry, nervously laughing, coming up with really weak unimportant excuses, and agreeing within ten seconds of being asked. Pretty much the rest of his time dressed as Taurtis goes very similarly. He objects to most things he's told to do and brings up Sam stabbing Taurtis multiple times despite the other's not wanting him to but is primarily nervous rather than hostile and he never actuslly puts up enough resistence for it to stick. Even when the other's were stuffing plastic down his throat and he told them he thought it may kill him Grian still did it and told the other's he *liked* it when pushed. Eventually he got out of it by running on Rowan's command and no sooner than being told to get out of there. When Sam found him again Grian immediately even reverted back to doing as he was told and cowering away from him in obvious fear up until Okami and Rowan showed up and shoved Grian behind them. Then he *still went home that night* knowing Sam would be there. When they found Taurtis it was pretty clear that Grian was hoping Taurtis would help him once he got his memory back however when instructed to stop telling Taurtis who he was Grian for the most part did aside from subtle pushing about the familiarity of certain things and then later when Taurtis got his memory back and made it pretty clear he wasn't going to help Grian? Grian conceded. He spent a good few minutes arguing about everything he'd gone through- everything they both had- and insisting it wasn't okay but when Taurtis made it pretty clear he wasn't going to do anything and they collectively agreed Grian was the real problem? Grian kinda...stopped. When Taurtis made it clear he wasn't going to be helping, Grian just kinda fell back into their normal routine with the other's, and when Sam demanded an 'apology soda' from Grian for what he'd apparently done, Grian bought it for him saying "If that's what it takes for things to go back to normal".
Let's also look at Grian's involvement with the law during/shortly-after the Halloween situation. When Sam and Yuki dragged him to join the Yakuza he was upset and objected anxiously but caved as soon as he got pushback. When Sam wanted to steak from the Yakuza he once again got objections from Grian who nervously insisted that it was a terrible idea but once again Sam shoved aside Grian's complaints and once again Grian just kinda fell into place despite being upset. When the police also started threatening the trio's lives to work for them, Grian objected. He questioned if they were allowed to do that and was very openly not happy about any of it, however he very quickly submitted under pressure. Both times Grian was locked in solitary confinement he loudly protested his sanity and both times he voiced how disturbing it was on a really deep level being locked up like that but both times when he was let out he just went with the other two again and let them brush it all off- even knowing full well they let him out to be *death fodder*. He just went with them relatively quietly save for maybe a token remark or two. Honestly the large majority of this bs Grian was involved with was under physical threat and he almost always bent under it. Even down to his fight with Pie over Ellen. Pie showed up and started challenging their relationship. Sam, Taurtis, and Yuki insisted they have a knife fight. Grian said *no*. Pie said yes. Sam, Taurtis, and Yuki affirmed there would be a knife fight. Grian objects more. Everyone else present discusses how the knife fight will work. Grian gets stabbed. Grian suggests they just ask Ellen who they want to date *obviously*. Ellen chooses nobody and leaves. Grian was upset but then just kinda accepts it and goes on with what the whole group was doing before.
And just to round this out with one more example. The Starwars Cosplay Incident. Apparently Sam burst into Grian's room, undressed him, shoved him into Leia Cosplay complete with fake boobs, and locked him in the basement for three days. Grian sits there for three days until Taurtis rescues him.  Grian has a moment of being rightfully very angry and finally even tries to physically attack Sam, demanding to know if Taurtis is aware of what Sam did to him and insisting that they can't expect everything to be fine now. Except it kinda...was. Taurtis stopped Grian from attacking Sam, they both brushed it off as a joke and not a big deal, and then they went to school. And Grian just *went*. He walked with the other two, he wore the outfit Sam put him in, and he just kinda moved on. Grian would later object when the clones tried to pull him out of class, snapping that he just wants to learn and get an education like a normal person and demanding to know why he's not allowed to. But he goes! And when he's released he walks right back to Sam and Taurtis, makes some bitter remarks to them, and let's them shove it all aside as if it's unimportant. Later when it's Grian, Sam, and a member of school staff alone in the closet, some innapropriate remarks are made to Grian. He very quickly says he's reporting the remarks made by school staff but Sam tells him not to be rude and it doesn't seem Grian ever does. Later on when Geode makes a comment about Grian's outfit as well Sam and Taurtis start pondering *giving* Grian to them. Grian repeatedly said *no* but with a lot more despair than defiance and we don't even know if he'd have actually followed through with fighting back if they'd tried to actually give him away because they were interrupted before the situation got to that point. Grian once again just let the other's move on as if that didn't happen and continued following them around, though! And he wore that damn outfit he was very explicitly uncomfortable with. All day.
Which is kinda all to say that when it comes to fighting back Grian is a lot more bark than bite.
Grian throws out a lot of bitter remarks, makes his objections very apparent in most things, and even has more than one vitriolic rant to his abuser(s) throughout the series. But that layer of his responses to things is so fragile that it tends to fall away within minutes- if that, sometimes *seconds*.
Of course ive seen other people take note of this and argue that it means Grian actually *wants* to do these thingd he's objecting to but I think that's silly. If it were just things like group crime or violent acts then id possibly see it but Grian puts up the same kind of response to having plastic shoved down his throat and to being locked in the basement for days which there's no way in hell he was any kind of okay with. The more likely scenario here isn't that he secretly wanted to do any of these things and made his resistence weak so he could pretend he tried while still doing it.
The likely scenario here is that his fight response is much more for show than one would think. Because Grian's strongest most influential response to things really never seems to be to fight. Aggression is really hardly Grian's overall stance on handling a distressing situation.
Much more frequently you see the most influence coming from completely other instinctive responses.
Looking for outside help in adults, friends, and classmates like when Okami and Rowan protected him during his time dressed as Taurtis or when Grian tried desperately to get Taurtis to be on his side and help him after Sam seriously hurt him both when Taurtis first got his memory back after Halloween and when Taurtis found Grian in the basement during the Starwars Cosplay Incident, hell, even during his fight with Pie it can be argued that Grian calling for them to just ask Ellen was an appeal to outside help as he hoped Ellen would agree to end the fight and save him from the situation as a result.
Running away- or trying to at least- from the threat. Most notably seen back during the halloween incident when he quite literally ran out the back of the gym and hid from Sam+Yuki then hiding behind Okami and Rowan when they showed up in an attempt to flee from Sam which is how he got away from the other's at all during that situation. Grian's consistent need to exclaim every so often how much he wants to go back to Europe is a subtler example of this, though, of Grian's urge to get away.
Honestly though being quiet and moving as he's directed seems to be the most common winning response. You see little sparks of reaction from him but most of the time Grian is just quiet, nervously laughing, following Taurtis and Sam around in what they ask of him, and even outright appeasement strategies to maintain a calm environment. This is So common from Grian. This is what usually wins out. His quiet nervous laughter and agreeing with Sam when Taurtis is first stabbed. The fact that he didn't tell the police what Sam did when alone with them during questioning and then immediately walked to meet up with Sam and went to school with Sam+Yuki with literally no objections. The fact that he didn't say no like *at all* to putting on the Taurtis outfit in the name of not making things awkward and complied within seconds of first being asked. How he proceeded to do what he was asked all day and didn't make any move to get away until Rowan outright instructed him to run. The fact that he went back! The fact that he went along with it when they joined the Yakuza and when they stole from the Yakuza and when they joined up with the cops and when they *forced him into a knife fight*. How Grian eventually just lost his spark of defiance after Taurtis first got his memories back and made it clear he wasn't helping Grian, with Grian agreeing to buy Sam a fucking *apology soda* if it meant things would go back to normal after hearing everyone else agree that *he* was the problem in all he'd been put through. The way he just goes back to following Sam and Taurtis after they got him locked in solitary confinement on blatant lies because they *wanted* to. The way he walks around school with the other two while wearing cosplay that made him feel gross and uncomfortable that Sam had literally physically forced onto him and just went along with what he was told in the end.
Grian always puts up a fight but not a good one. He makes side comments, he makes objections, he even has more than one emotional rant about the hell he's put through, however this never wins out in the end and this presenting fight is very frequently just barely holding down much stronger freeze and fawn instincts that usually win out pretty damn quick.
Which!!! In a situation like Grian's it actually makes significantly more sense to have strong freeze and fawn responses than to have a strong fight response! I mean, think about it. A fight response is primarily useful in scenarios in which it's possible to take strong action to remove the threat. You're attacked by a dog so you throw stuff at it till it backs away. You're picked on by an upperclassman so you punch em' in the nose expecting fully that they'll leave you be after. Someone attacks you while you're walking home so you try and stab them with your key. Fighting is an incredibly good response for random/one time attacks. If you're ever kidnapped you wanna scream and punch and kick and make a scene so they can't take you to a secondary location. You fight. Fighting is optimal for unexpected stranger conflicts. That's not the situation Grian's in though. Grian suffers from serious long term physical, emotional, and financial abuse. He's in a country he doesn't have residency or family in, he doesn't have a readily available source of income, he doesn't have his own mode of transportation, it seems that most of the time he doesnt have a clear way home, he's often dealing with long term friends of his and seemingly his biggest source of support prior to this situation, even back in Europe he doesn't have much support system to run to given his parents canonically left him, he's frequently under threat of physical danger, etc. This is not the kind of situation in which an intense primary fight response helps. This is the type of situation in which an intense primary fight response either gets you seriously hurt or wandering the streets with no way to provide for yourself. It would likely be similar if he presented an intense primary flight response to be honest. In long term abuse situations where there's no rational way of escaping safely or no rational place to escape to? Often the primary responses that promote survival are fawn and freeze. Appeasing the aggressor or sinking into the background. Those are your ways to stay alive when you can't expect to 'win' or escape. It absolutely makes more sense for Grian to have primary fawn and freeze responses than a primary fight response.
But then why does he present so much hostility? What's with all the bitter remarks and the attempts to voice objections and the occasional overt insults/screaming? How does a fawn/freeze response present as fight when first pressed at?? Well fun fact, I have experience with that kind of presentation because I *was* that kind of presentation. Oh boy did I try to push strong fight responses towards my abusive father with token resistences and petty remarks even though most of the time I crumpled under the slightest pressure and spent my time ignoring the problem or dissociating or trying very hard to avoid future conflicts. You put up a token front of fight even if that's never going to be your primary response for the sake of your own mental health, really. To assure the world- and *you*- knows that you don't *want* this situation. So you can say you tried. Out of some misguided hope that your attempted bravado won't be seen through and that maybe this time they'll just stop pushing instead of calling the bluff. Which. Makes sense with Grian as well. I mean looking at the times he really truly goes off before reverting back to a more appeasing stance, most notably his rants from when Taurtis first got his memory back as well as from when he got out of the basement during the Starwars Cosplay Incident. Most of those rants were taken up by Grian loudly and passionately reiterating what he'd been through, insisting he was the victim, and calling Sam an awful person before the defiance fades out and he becomes more willing to just go about their day. It's one attempted push hoping the other parties present will vie in his favour and a reassertion that he's not okay with this and that *he* is being hurt which gives way within minutes to a much duller attitude. That's just a painfully familiar format. Adding on Grian's token objections/passive aggressive remarks to many situations that distress him and how quickly those objections give way as dismissed by others. That kind of behaviour feels strongly like an attempt to preserve your own mental wellbeing as much as possible with the knowledge that you tried to some extent and with just generally hearing out loud that you are the victim even if from yourself. Grian's behaviour just really feels like a facade of defiance to cover up general helplessness which makes a Lot of sense for the scenario. Probably more than just plain defiance would.

Wrote a massive ask about something, change the subject like two times, and now im starting over cuz NOW I know what I wanna talk about.
I've figured out a few reasons why so many people don't like deku. Of course there is the usual, he doesn't fit really any of the cookie cutters that make most shonen characters (however, characters like Todoroki and Bakugo do, and despite their flaws, everyone fucking drools over them constantly).
My next point: deku doesn't talk about his trauma. His entire life is fucked up, but hes pretended forever that its fine and normal, which has influenced us viewers horribly so that we don't see how messed up he is. We forget what has happened to him and all we see is this pathetic scared teenager who cries at everything because that's basically how he acted in the first like 4 episodes. Bakugo himself has even said deku doesn't really look at or think about himself at all (also demonstrated in like literally everything he says and does) and so we have seen hardly any of his pain. The doctor scene and the scene where his mom apologizes and cries is JUST the beginning. The events of the first episode were a sample of his everyday life (minus meeting all might or running into a villain ofc). We forget the entire fucking decade between these moments. A DECADE OF EPISODE ONE. Think about that.
Now I'll compare him to Bakugo and Todoroki, two beloved characters who get much less backlash, if any. Bakugo has talked about how he knows he's messed up, we have seen him change, and I guess he's more relatable somehow. Todoroki has talked openly about his trauma, we have seen chunks of it, we have seen the absolute worst of it (his mom and the boiling water probably) and we have seen him grow as a person (his entire character arc and also how he treats his dad after the tournament arc). We know him, we've seen him struggle and we see him moving past his animosity towards endeavor. He has asked for help and advice from him too.
Do I see anyone calling Todo an abuse apologist? No. Do I see people forgiving endeavor as easily has they did Bakugo? Absolutely not, which is not a bad thing, but the amount of people I've seen basically idolizing bakugo despite his past mistakes is almost astonishing to me. Of course many people can and should forgive baku, but no one loves deku like they do todoroki. Todo isn't in 2nd or 1st just cuz he doesnt get anywhere near as much screentime as deku and baku, and also prolly cuz he is not as relatable as bakugo, just like deku. Deku gets so so much shit and for what? You didn't like how he acted in the beginning of season one?
In conclusion, I am mad about how much hate deku gets, I wrote too much about bakugo and endeavor parallels when they shouldn't really be compared but its not my fault cuz all might himself has also pointed out similarities, and you probably know exactly who is writing this even tho I decided to go incognito and I cant remember why. Sorry I wrote you an essay<3
this has been in my inbox for a fair while and im sorry for the delayed response but you hit the nail on the head!
i feel like people go into a shonen, not expecting to be hit with a main character who despite being emotional, still hides a lot of stuff about him and his past. from both the cast, his friends and teachers, and us as the readers/audience. deku is a rather real-feeling character, who has gone through trauma and hasn’t had the chance to speak out. he’s instead decided to bury it within, trying to push it to stay in the past as he feels his current life is now better and free of all those troubles.
he bottles a lot of things up. it leaves an ever-lasting effect on him, even after he receives one for all and gets into ua. and for viewers who understand, they come to greatly love and appreciate his character and the growth he goes through, while noting how he has yet to face his past. people who don’t understand however, do just see how you worded it. a pathetic scared teenager who cries at the drop of a hat. him crying is such a noticeable trait within the first season, especially as a lot of his development past that has been a lot more subtle in comparison to todoroki and bakugou.
deku dives in and is reckless, and his flaws bubble at the surface a lot whenever he’s in focus (not that flaws are bad - good characters will have flaws), and people will often tend to heavily criticize him if he acts too differently from the deku they’re used to. crybaby deku. despite the fact those very same people want a more confident character. they want more fights. they want a character like bakugou or todoroki. yet whenever deku doesn’t act like the deku they know, it serves as another ‘reason’ to hate him, because they claim his character isn’t consistent, or that because he is reckless, he deserves consequence.
a lot of people who hate on him fail to see just how interesting of a character deku is however, for the role he’s taken and especially with the current setup horikoshi has given him to finally confront past deku, and to hopefully stop being so reckless. he’s yet to have a big character shift that turns readers heads.
but its coming, and i wholeheartedly believe in horikoshi to deliver.
